The annual Accurate Open Charter, 7 day trip, aboard the Qualifier 105 was again a great success. Great fishing and great weather.

Captain Joe Crisi put us on epic bites for tuna, dorado, and yellowtail. We even got a taste of wahoo at the Alijos Rocks. Chance Moses landed 2 wahoo to add to his count for the trip, one got him second place in the jackpot.

Anky Truong landed the jackpot fish with a 52 pound YFT. Anky did the deed using an Accurate BX2-500 reel.

Anky won an Accurate Rod and Reels for his excellent effort.

HUNTING BLUEFIN

When a Southern California bluefin tuna trip features sunset and hugging photos there is no need to ask about the bite. We fished the amazing Sea of Cortez as far south as Bahia De Los Angeles.

The annual 18 day Accurate & Royal Polaris sponsored trip returned to San Diego on February 26. It was an amazingly good trip with plenty of yellowfin tuna and wahoo for all.

The annual "crew wahoo gaff landing contest" was won by crewman Eddie. Eddie won a Benjamin Franklin $100.00 bill, as per a vote of all anglers after viewing the end of trip slide show of the wahoo landings.

Accurate brought 50 Accurate reels matched to Calstar rods for all anglers to use throughout the trip. There were Accurate derby prizes and Accurate t-shirts for all anglers.

Captain Joe Crisi took us to fish Alios Rocks and Isla Cedros. The fishing was excellent at both locations and all 32 anglers got plenty of opportunity for yellowfin,

yellowtail, dorado, and wahoo. We were also fortunate to have great fishing and traveling weather throughout the trip.

As always Accurate brought great prizes and loaner gear for all anglers. Jack Nilsen brought over $75,000 in gear for the free use by all anglers.

The Great White is a beautiful 47 foot Cabo owned by Accurate Pro-Staffer Dave Fender. The Osuma Brothers are a real pleasure to fish with and I would recommend their “Marla” fleet of boats to any one who wishes to fish out of the Peurto Vallarta area.

Jack Nilsen of Accurate Fishing, Wayne, and Dave fished with Mark Rayor on his Vista Sea Sport boats. The two Jen Wren boats are the best charter boats available in the East Cape. Both the Jen Wrens are fully equipped with Accurate Reels, Accurate Rods and CalStar rods.

We stayed at John Irelands Rancho Leonero. " The Ranch " is the Accurate Fishing home in East Cape. The Ranch has wonderful accommodations which include sea view rooms with private patios. The Ranch offers a large fleet of fishing cruisers and pangas with expert captains who know East Cape.

Accurate Fishing tested some new gear including the Accurate / Halco trolling lures. The "Ratler" was a favorite for stripe marlin. We trolled them short inside of the Zuker pattern. We were amazed at how the the strippers were attracted to theAccurate / Halco " Ratler " troll lures. Maybe something they have not seen before. Mark Rayor says he will make these lures part of his standard troll pattern on his Vista Sea Sport Jen Wren boats.

QUALIFIER-105 & ACCURATE 4/27/2010

The annual Accurate & Qualifier 105 Long Range Charter departed the landing on April 27. Captain Joe Crisi headed us straight for the Hurricane Bank, an approximately 1000 mile 3 day run. The Bank was very alive with shark and yellowfin tuna. The shark population was very adept at intercepting our tuna bite before they could be landed on the deck of the boat. After 2 days we could take no more and Captain Joe headed us for the " buffer zone " around Clarion Island.

The fishing at the Clarion Buffer Zone was absolutely excellent. The sharks still intercepted some but it was very fishable on drift fishing.

This was a " ride down, fly back " trip, with several passengers opting to take the ride back option.

Jack Nilsen was Charter Host on this annual trip. Accurate brought approximately $75,000.00 in reels, rods and super braid line for anglers to use throughout the trip, free of charge. Several anglers won Accurate Reels in Daily Derby competitons.

Our great friend Del Marsh landed a 274 YFT by way of his friend Scooter Silverman. Scooter

borrowed a Del Marsh Accurate ATD50 to help Del fish on with his friends.

LYNN ROSE EAST CAPE CLASSIC

The Lynn Rose East Cape Classic went off on schedule despite the threats of Hurricane Rick. The Classic fished three days from Thursday 10/22 to Saturday 10/24. The hurricane and weather gave us a break and the Sea of Cortez offered up perfect weather and plenty of fish to catch.

The Accurate Team of George, Wayne and Jack fished on the 35 foot Cabo Express, Jen Wren - Torrance, that was provided by Mark Rayor of Vista Seasport. Both the Jen Wren, Vista Seasport, boats are outfitted with Accurate Reels and Accurate and Calstar rods.

The Lynn Rose Classic is an annual charity tournament that raises funds for children’s issues in the small community of Los Barilles. The tournament is held each year in October at the wonderful resort of Palmas De Cortez.

We missed our friend Del Marsh this year. Del was a long time participant in the tournament as part of the Accurate Team. There were lot of Del Marsh stories recounted at Room 12, Accurate Party Central.

HALL FISHING TRIP

The annual Hall and Associates fishing trip for this year was a great success.
The overnight trip into Mexican waters is a great opportunity for one on one time with many of Bart Halls family and industry friends.

The fishing was hampered a bit by rough seas, but the bite was good on yellowtail and yellowfin tuna. Captain Eddie of the Eldoroda was able to find productive kelp paddie fishing 70 to 80 miles south of San Diego.

Christie Shedd was the hot stick for the trip. Christie was on fire with some nice yellowtail and yellowtfin tuna. Christie and Rick Maxxa both had a hot hand all day. No surprise, Rick landed the Jack Pot fish.

BRUCE ELLWOOD IN NEW ZEALAND

Our friend in New Zealand landed a world class catch. A snapper also known as a squire fish at 26.2 pounds.

Wife 'chelle wrote.

" Hey Jack,
In kiwi land Bruce's fish is called a snapper IGFA call it a squire fish. It hit the scales at 26.2lb. Bruce said it is equivalent to a 300lb yellowfin tuna in southern California terms (guess you will understand that) chances of catching one!!!!!!!!!
So the next day he takes his friend out and his mate catches a 28.2lb baby. Does this sound like a shortened version of a Del Marsh story!!!!! "

FISHING IN KONA

The Accurate family fished Kona Hawaii during the month of July.
The focus was on pacific blue marlin. Kona is a pleasure to fish because of the
ideal weather, calm seas and a chance to hook into huge blue marlin. This was not our year for a big one, but we will give it another try next year.

We had the pleasure to fish with three different captains and boats. Mike Rand of
Spellbound, Kent Mongreig of Fish Wish, and Steve Lassley of Bad Company were all great to ride with.

Steve Lassley and Keith O’Brien run an absolutely amazing boat, Bad Company.
We fished with or friends Pete Gray and Steve Pinard. Had a great time.

Del Marsh and I fished with 25 other anglers on a Tony Reyes mother ship trip booked through Longfin Tackle in Orange, California. The trip departed from San Felepe in Baja

Mexico. The mother ship Tony Reyes carried nine 22ft. pangas and six kayaks.

The pangas carry a skipper guide and 3 anglers. Yellowtail, grouper, pargo and more are the target species. We had wonderful fishing on all species.

We drove to San Felepe, crossing the border at Mexicali. There is very secure parking at the Tony Reyes facility in San Felepe. The 120 ft. Tony Reyes is very comfortable and a well run efficient operation. There are 2 and 4 person state rooms. The shower and restroom facilities are comfortable and very clean.

Product Testing Down on the East Cape

The Accurate Team traveled to Rancho Leonero, at East Cape Baja. The trip was focused on testing some of the the new Accurate reels, rods, and Accubraid fishing line combinations.

We targeted stripe marlin, sailfish, dorado and rooster fish. The Accurate Extreme combinations of Extreme 7040 rods matched to B2 Extreme 500 and 600 reels were a big hit for casting live bait on stripe marlin. This combination is very light in weight yet has tremendous backbone and drag preasure.

Bill Roecker and Paul Sweeney of Oceanic Productions joined us to film footage for a new video
by Oceanic Productions.

Adventures departed from the beautiful East Cape resort of Rancho Leonero. John Ireland and Gary Barnsweb provide a perfect setting for fishing; billfish, dorado, tuna., pargo, and
rooster fish.

Royal Polaris Trip

The Accurate Team returned to San Diego on February 26, 2009. Jack Nilsen and 23 fellow anglers fished aboard the Royal Polaris on an 18 day trip that departed from San Diego on February 8, 2009.

Captain Fank LoPreste skippered the trip. We were fortunate to have three Accurate Pro-Staff members along for support. Gary Lecroix, Brandon Kreutel, and Peter Heimbach are all Pro-Staff anglers and a great resource for Accurate.

Accurate brought 50 reel and rod combinations for the free use of all anglers throughout the trip. Many Accurate reels were won in “Daily Derby” fishing contests. The music rocked, the fish bit, and the GOOD TIMES ROLLED.

Mark Franketberker won his choice of an Accurate reel for his 301 pound yellowfin which was landed on his Accurate ATD50W. Congratulations to Mark for a great fish and your new Accurate Reel to add your already extensive arsenal of Accurate Reels. Mark is already an all Accurate Angler and reel pleasure to have as part of our Accurate family.

We started our fishing at the Hurricane bank, targeting yellowfin tuna and wahoo. The fishing at the bank was very good and kept us busy for several days. Our next stop was outside of Clarion Island in an area around the island referred to as the “buffer zone”. This was “run and gun” fishing under bird schools and porpoise. We had excellent success in the “buffer zone” and then decided to depart for the Lucitania Bank outside Bahia Magdelana.

The area outside Bahia Magdelana also produced excellent fishing on yellowfin, wahoo, and giant squid. This was anchor fishing, drift fishing, and Kite fishing. All methods provided excellent results. The Royal Polaris uses Accurate ATD50W and ATD80 reels as the boats kite gear. These Accurate reels haveproved to be very reliable and effective as the standard Royal Polaris kite reels.

Qualifier 105 5 Day Trip

Accurate Fishing Reels and the Qualifier 105 returned on Sunday August 31 from their annual five-day Long Range trip. Thirty anglers and seven crew had no problem finding the yellowtail and yellowfin tuna, led by Captain Joe.

The trip started from Point Loma Landing and ran directly to Isla San Benitos for an impressive catch of yellowtail. Dropper loop fishing started the bite at 4:00 am for the massive yellowtail bite. Several anglers had near limits of yellowtail on the first morning of fishing. The dropper loop method on 60 to 80 pound line was the killer set up. The Q-015 crew was very efficient in getting everyone set up with the proper gear.

Jack Nilsen of Accurate Fishing Reels brought 50 rod and reel combinations for the free use of all anglers. The Accurate Reels were matched to Accurate, Calstar, and Seeker rods. All the Accurrate Reels had spectra type braided lines from Izoreline, Line One, and Black Water. The anglers just needed to add a top shot of monofilament line and a hook or lure.

I had a chance to test out the Pit Bull clamp for jig rods. It worked out great, I was really impressed with how well it held the reel on the rod with absolutely no movement. The clamp has so much surface contact to the rod it just doesn't move. Great idea by an Accurate friend David Samarin.

The three jackpot spots were filled by Paul Everts, Bill Dent, and Bob Johnson. The top fish was a 41.4 yellowfin tuna, landed by Paul Everts at Isla Guadelupe. The Great Whites put on a show at Guadalupe and extracted some tax for fishing in their home waters.

Accurate and the Qualifier 105 will offer the same trip next year, but will expand the trip from a five day to a six day trip. Tuesday August 25^th through Monday August 31. Contact the Qualifier 105 office for booking details. 619 223-2786.

Rancho Leonero offers all that is asked of a sportfishing resort. Panga fishing, cruiser fishing, kayak fising, shore reef fishing, diving, and comfort.

The resort also provides free WIFI Internet service. This makes connections with home folks and business very easy and free. I brought my laptop and was able to send pictures and reports of the day’s activities everyday.

John and Jennifer Ireland and Gary visit with the guests every evening at the restaurant and bar to talk about the days catch. Very down home friendly gatherings. John Ireland is very accisable and available and welcomes you, his guests, as part of his Rancho Leonero Family.

Ben Secrest was especially interested to continuing further testing of the new Accurate Boss Series of rods matched to the Boss Series E Reels. These new Accurate Boss Rod and Reel combinations are very light weight and balanced to create easy casting ability and loads of power.

The new Rod and reel combinations worked exceptionally well for casting baits on billfish. Mark Reyor of Vista Seasport and the boat Jen Ren was amazed at the ease of casting baits. The light weight and balance of the Boss 7040 Rod and B2-870 reel is very impressive. The advantages of, lighter, faster, stronger certainly was demonstrated to Mark Reyor. He insisted on ordering a 7040 Rod and B2-870 for his charter boat, Jen Ren.

Fishing in New Zealand

Del Marsh of Calstar, and Tom Ward of Longfin Tackle and I, Jack Nilsen of Accurate; have spent 3 weeks fishing and touring New Zealand. Great country for Kingfish ( yellowtail ), marlin, snapper, grouper, tuna, trout, lobster, and more are available to catch.

We were targeting kingfish on this trip. Fishing with deep water knife type jigs and bait. The technique for fishing the knife type jigs is very interesting and effective. Lots of exercise.

We are fishing for the kingfish over deep water pinnacles that come up to about 250 feet. The jigging is worked from the panicles to about 50 feet up.
When the bit comes it is sudden and very strong. The challenge is to turn the fish and keep it out of the rocks. We have been catching kingies up to
45 pounds, they probably average around 30 to 35 pounds. These are very strong fish, especially during the initial fight.

The included picture of the young lady angler is of Nicola Ellwood. Nicola had the largest kingfish this day and showed us old salts how it should be done.

We have also been fishing for snapper while pulling lobster pots. I had an estimated 22 pound snapper, outdoing Dels’ snapper fish by several pounds, sorry Del.

Del Marsh was in heaven when he landed a trophy rainbow trout that amazed our guide and local tackle shops. An 11 pound, 10 ounce trout that is the largest rainbow trout known to be taken from this Lake Rotoiti in many years. The lake is located in central North Island and is noted for excellent trout fishing. Tom Ward is having it mounted to be displayed at his Longfin tackle shop.

We have to compliment the New Zealand sportfishing community for their catch and release attitude. One day we had approximately 40 kingfish and kept four fish to eat. Everyone is very aware that taking more fish than you need is just a waste and disrespect of the fishery resource.

New Zealand is an amazingly beautiful country. The people are the friendliest I have encountered anywhere. Driving down the highway in our motor-home people along the countryside will wave to say hello. We have made many friends here who have made us feel very welcome in New Zealand. If you ever get a chance to fish there I really would recommend going.

We were fortunate to have our friends from France join us. Francios Mangeot, Claude Mangeot, and Harve Gehin are a pleasure to fish with and are certainly acc

omplished anglers. Francois fished wahoo on the Accurate Twin Spin 30 and did very well on the

“Skins”. Francois was also very effective on the tuna fishing with his Accurate ATD30 and ATD12.

spent most of his rail time using his Accurate ATD12. This was a very effective combi

nation loaded with

500 yards of Black Water 100 pound Hollow and a “top shot” of Black Water Flourocarbon Shock Leader. The Accurate ATD12 is a very light and comfortable reel to fish for long hours at the rail soaking live bait. The use of 500 yards of hollow Black Water allows plenty of line for the big “cows”. Stas was very pleased with this set up and landed several large tuna. Stas also battled one of the toughest YFT I have see

n on his Accurate ATD30 loaded with 500 yards of 130 pound Black Water. This fish was an absolute “br

ute”.

miles from Isla Clarion.

The Hurricane Bank fishing was on sardine and mackeral baits and kite fishing on fliers, squid, and “double trouble” baits. Some very nice 100 and 200 pound + fish were landed on both kite and live bait so

aks. The wahoo fishing was good, but not great. We shared the

bank and island with our friends on the Red Rooster III.

Accurate brought approximately $70,000.00 in gear for angler to use throughout the trip.
